Your child should be able to identify coins and bills. He or she should be able to easily skip count by 25, 10, and 5. Pull out a few coins and bills from your wallet and have your child count them up. This exercise can be done a few times a week. Look for opportunities to reinforce money skills. For example, share receipts with your child when paying for items at the market.
Now is a good time for a third grader to start wearing and using an analog watch. Ask questions that help strengthen your child's time skills:
What time is it right now?
What time will it be in 15 minutes? in half an hour? in two hours?
What time was it ten minutes ago? half an hour ago?
