Welcome back to St. John Neumann School Library. I'm so glad to have you all back. There are so many books to read and so little time to read them in! We'll be beginning slowly, checking out only one book at a time for a week or two. Soon, though, we'll be back to allowing students to have out 3 books at a time. If books are not returned students may not take out any other books. Be reminded that students who did not return their books in June must return them or pay for them before they can take out additional books. A new policy this year is that our library will be a silent library. This may be a struggle for some children at first, but hopefully all will soon adjust and enjoy reading or doing Writers' Workshop. Accelerated Reader is up and running and so are the students. Many have already taken some tests and 2 eager beavers have already become Independent Readers! They are fourth grader Cecelia Elliott and second grader Brent Penwarden. Congratulations to them both. Many students are saying that they want to become Super Master Readers this year and I hope that they can achieve their goal! No one has done that since we created this level the first year we were St. John Neumann School. Also, for parents who wish to help their students out with Accelerated Reader, know that there is a site which allows you to check to see if any book is now an Accelerated Reader title. All you need is an internet connection. It is www.arbookfind.com. Just type in the book title and it will tell you if the title is indeed an AR title and the grade level and points that can be earned. Happy reading to all.
