Expectations for Homework

1. A spelling pre-test is given each Monday. Missed words are studied for homework. Those who do well on the pre-test may request special challenge words. The final spelling test is given on Friday.

2. Book-in-a Bag is reading homework. The student reads the book and answers several questions asked by the adult. Another task to practice: after reading the book the student closes it and gives a re-telling, in their own words, of that selection.

3. Science and Social Studies have only occasional assignments. Collecting postcards from around our state, country and world is a project that includes help from extended family and friends and is great for vacation time. This makes geography real.

4. The Home-School Collection provides families with a quick overview of a new chapter. It includes a letter, activity and new math vocabulary.
