Small Groups

Kids Connection Groups 

• Are fun, interactive and informative!
• Are offered twice per year (fall and spring)
• Require parent permission (signed permission form)
• Are skills-based – we learn about coping skills needed to handle various situations.
• Meet during the school day, approximately once per week for 30 minutes
• Fall groups meet 4-5 times; spring groups meeting 2-3 times
• Include 4-8 students in each group
• Include a folder for each child which is brought home on the last day to share with parents .
• Are an opportunity for students to give help to others and receive help from others.
• Are based on teacher, parent, counselor and student referrals.
• Are neither group therapy nor a counseling group; there is some sharing of feelings and a lot of caring for others, fun and learning!
• Are not professional counseling. Children who need professional counseling are best helped by a mental health professional.  Feel free to contact Mrs. Douglas for possible resources.
