Calculus: FYI
Leibniz and Newton are both considered the father of calculus. The view is that they both invented calculus. Leibniz arrived at it based his work on geometry and Newton arrived at it based on his work on physics. Newton discovered calculus between 1665 and 1667 after his university closed due to an outbreak of the Plague. Newton was only 22 at the time, and he preferred not to publish his discoveries. Meanwhile, in Germany, Leibniz discovered Calculus independently and he was very open with his findings. This led to a bitter dispute between the two mathematicians later known as the "Great Sulk".
Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716)
