ACTION ALERT - - - RESTORE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC POSITIONS! Help restore reasonable class size to Elementary Instrumental Music. For the 7th year in a row, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is increasing class size for elementary instrumental music. Here’s how MCPS compares to neighboring counties: Students per week for one full-time teacher MCPS: 360 students (and counting – Without a staffing increase, the number of students for MCPS will be higher next year!) Urge the Board of Education and the Superintendent to take a small part of this year’s unexpected $29 million surplus and increase elementary instrumental music staffing. Our kids are getting an inferior start in instrumental music. Something can and should be done NOW. Contact Board of Education members and the Superintendent in support of increasing elementary instrumental music staffing: Board of Education, Shirley Brandman, President: boe@mcpsmd.org Phone: 301-279-3617 fax: 301-279-3860 Dr. Joshua Starr, Superintendent of MCPS: Joshua_Starr@mcpsmd.org Phone: 301-279-3383 Fax: 301-279-3205 Montgomery County Parents for Music
You can find practice advice for all instruments here. Beginning flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone can find links to You-tube videos inside those documents on instrument assembly and getting a sound. I check my email regularly. Feel free to contact me at:
