Welcome to First Grade!
September 22, 2017
Happy fall everyone! First grade is off to a great start! We are working hard at following the rules and routines of the classroom. We are learning a lot and having a great time! It is going to be a great year!
Homework: There is homework nightly except on nights of concerts and other school events. Math is due back to school the next day. Spelling homework is not due until Friday. Students can pick a different way to practice their spelling words each night from the Bingo board. Snack reminders: We are a nut free classroom, along with most other classrooms at SJS. This includes both peanuts AND tree nuts. Please make sure that anything your child brings to eat in the classroom is nut free. They may eat peanut butter etc. in the cafeteria, just not in the classroom! Also, please LABEL or make sure your child knows which snack you want them eating at snack time. If you would like to send in a treat for your child’s birthday, please contact me ahead of time. I also ask that it be nut-free and must not have been produced in a factory that makes peanut or tree nut products. This information can be found on food labels. Please send the labels in with the birthday treat. Thank you!
Since the children have to leave the classroom to get a drink from the water fountain, I am asking that you please send in a water bottle with your child that he/she can drink from throughout the day. This allows for the students to drink water more often without having to leave the classroom.
***Please make sure all uniform items are labeled with your child's initials. Also, please check to see that the sweaters/sweatshirts that your child has brought home are theirs. Thank you very much!***
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
