In my 36th year on the faculty of Christ the King School as a Physical Education and Health teacher, I have also taught at All Saints Junior High School (Phys. Ed. and Health), as well as at St. Josaphat's and St. Andrew's Elementary Schools. I enjoy working with other faculty members in integrating academic subjects into my Phys. Ed. classes.

I have been married for 46 years to my husband, Deacon Bill Schmitz, who was ordained for service in the Diocese of Rochester in June, 1986. We are the parents of three grown children, Tom, Suzanne and Kristen, through whom we have been blessed collectively with eight grandchildren - - six grandsons and two granddaughters.

In my spare time, I can usually be found attending our grandchildren's athletic or school-related events, working in my garden, walking my dog Toby, playing tennis or even on the golf course. Alternative indoor activities include knitting, crocheting and sewing.

Physical Education instruction should help children grow and achieve success where the develop-ment of their bodies and physical movements are concerned. I strive to provide the children with a sound foundation where they develop skills, cognitive understanding and positive attitudes toward themselves with respect to physical activities. Hopefully this foundation will give children the opportunity to be well on their way to becoming adults who value the benefits of leading physically active lives and enjoying healthy lifestyles.
