Course Outline What will we study? We will study world civilizations and religions. However, we will not study the United States! What supplies do I need? -

*Optional- colored pencils (for home use), index cards (for flash cards), and hole reinforcements (donut holes) What are the rules? ü Be in your Assigned seat when the bell rings and ready to learn. You may “purchase” a seat of your liking after successfully earning an 85% or higher on your quarterly average. You must maintain this average or your “purchase” will become FORCLOSED on. ü Come to class prepared…Locker and bathroom passes will not be given for any reason! (Medical situations that are documented through the nurse are exempt…) ü TREAT all others and property in the classroom WITH RESPECT! ü Cell phones are NOT permitted in the classroom. If you are caught with a cell phone in your possession, it will be confiscated and given to the principal. If a cell phone is in your possession during any type of assessment, the grade will be a zero. Consequences: 1st: Warning from the teacher AND a call home 2nd: Referral and/or sent to the office How will I be graded? How will I be graded? Participation 10% Notebooks 5% Weekly Quizzes 20% Tests/Essays 30% Projects 25% Homework 10% ----------------------------------------------------------- Total 100% Late work will be accepted within ONE week of its due date for a reduced grade of 10%. In addition, the student MUST complete the assignment under my SUPERVISION AFTER-SCHOOL!! **Homework will ALWAYS be assigned and distributed on Mondays. All homework assignments will be due on Thursdays…no exceptions.** Responsibilities: 1. Come to class ready to learn (positive attitude and prepared). 2. Do the assigned work, and hand it in on time. 3. Study for exams. 4. See the teacher for help when something is unclear. Absences: -
Get missed notes from a classmate. -
Check the "Were you absent?" folder for handouts. -
Make up missed work (you have one day for each absence).
