For the week of Sept. 6, 2010
In Language we will be doing review of previous lessons. The students will also learn the structure of a good paragraph. which will include defining the main idea and supporting details needed to write a well put together paragraph. If all goes as planned we will have a test on Sept. 14.
In Math, we will start our work on money. First it will be counting money, by skip counting and then we will go on to making change. We also should be taking our first Math test next week.
In Science, we will continue our study of the definition of a living thing. We will learn about the life cycle of a plant, common elements of living things, and the needs of plants.
In Reading, we will finish up our work on the story Ballad of Mulan. We will do a comparison of the book we read and the Disney movie Mulan. We will go on to read our next story, titled Waterfall.
In Handwriting we will begin our study of the different strokes used when writing cursive letters. The students will also begin practicing cursive writing, one letter at a time.
In Spelling we will be learning how to divide words into syllables using vowel sounds. All of our words have short vowel sounds.
