In the fall of 2008 we began our live daily TV news broadcast from the media center. Using the Visual Communicator software, our fifth grade anchors report upcoming events and activities. We also use the broadcast to showcase student video reports and to highlight student accomplishments.
Fifth grade students recently auditioned for anchor positions. We looked for anchors who showed enthusiasm, read the teleprompter with expression, spoke clearly, and SMILED. Anchors must show good work habits, including arriving on time for practice and working well with others. Anchors do not have to be top students academically, but they do need to try their best in all subjects and demonstrate good behavior in all classes. Our anchors become "famous" at CRE after appearing on the show so they must be good role models to our other students.
