Violations of Human Rights

This upper-level semester long course will examine the political, religious, and social significance and impact of world-wide human rights atrocities.  Students will gain a deeper understanding of the causes and effects of human atrocities and the history of crimes against humanity.

 

 

 

Topics to be covered include: slavery, torture, genocide, Ethnic Cleansing,   inhumane punishment, the oppression of women and children, and extensive study of the Holocaust.

 

 

 

We will address the impact of human rights atrocities on life in the U.S. and elsewhere, and what measures, if any, that can be taken to reduce stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.

 

Prerequisite: This course is open to Students earning passing grades in World History and American History.

 

11th and 12th grade

½ credit
