Course outline:  This is a half-year course designed to introduce you to government at the local, state and federal level.  The goal of this course is for you to be able to express your opinion and knowledge on various topics.

Materials:  You will need a binder to keep articles, handouts, etc. and a notebook.

Grading: 

30% Tests/Projects

25% Quizzes

25% Papers

10% Class activitites/Participation/Binder Check

10% Home work

*Participation in Government and Economics are required classses for seniors in New York State.  If you do not pass, you do not graduate*

Community Service:  20 hours total

-15 hours of volunteer work, recorded and submitted by June.  Date TBA

-5 hours of meeting attendance.  No repeats.  1 school board meeting, 1 town board meeting

Projects:  This class will consist of 2 group projects.  One project will take place around political parties.  One will take place around the topic of public policy.

Papers:  Several small 102 page papers will be assigned throughout the class.  One five page paper wil be assigned with the public policy project.  All papers are to be completed individually.
