Community Service first due date is November 1..

Dear Seniors,

             I hope you are enjoying your summer before entering your last year at Hoosick Falls.  As a senior, you will have mandatory requirements for graduation.  One of these requirements is 15 hours of community service along with 5 hours of attendance at meetings where government action is taking place.  These 20 hours are required for passing your senior social studies courses, Participation in Government and Economics.

              Community service is the act of volunteering your time to benefit, or assist others within your community.  Examples of community service include volunteering at your church, a food pantry, a youth center, senior center, etc.  You are required to complete 15 hours of community service.  The other 5 hours come from attending various meetings such as town or village board meetings, town or village court, county legislative meetings, or a school board meeting.

              Enclosed you will find a community service log form.  You will be required to complete the form.  It is your responsibility to have the person with whom you volunteered with sign off on the form as well as provide a contact number, or you will not receive credit.  Completed forms should be turned into me throughout the school year.

              You will have until June to complete the combined 20 hours.  I encourage you to reach out and find an organization that is of interest to you that could benefit from your time.
