November

We’ve had a busy month in the art room!  I’m so excited to start sharing student work as each class starts to finish up their first projects!

Pre-K 4 has been doing a great job transitioning to another room every Monday afternoon.  They’ve been creating seasonal projects using a variety of art materials.  Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades have all been working with mixing colors and talking about different color families.

3rd grade is working on a portrait unit.  They created pixilated self-portraits and are currently working on a portrait in the style of Canadian artist Sandra Silberzweig.  4th grade is working with line.  They have created a crazy hair picture to practice and then used scratch off paper to create glittery pattern leaves.  To finish this unit, they are creating zentangle landscapes.  5th grade is also working on a portrait unit.  They have finished a self-portrait incorporating half their face and are starting a piece based on Modigliani’s famous portrait work.

6th grade is working on sarcophagi!  This is always a much anticipated project.    7th grade is working on a Pop Art unit.  They are currently working on a painting in the style of Andy Warhol’s screen prints.  8th grade is still working on an illustration unit.  They are currently creating superhero caricatures.
