Howdy Campers!
Thanks for your interest in the Whitehouse High School theatre program and in one very vital part of it: UIL One-Act Play! We’ve got an amazing year of live theatre lined up and I am honored to be a part of it. Many of you parents and family members may have participated in “OAP” when you were in high school and remember what a wonderful and creative process it is. It’s inspiring…….it’s educational……but most of all…….it’s FUN! In order to be a part of OAP, you must audition each spring for the Theatre Production class. Anyone is welcome to audition for the class! The entire OAP team is drawn from this highly dedicated and skilled group of students. Auditions for the specific roles/positions on the OAP production team are normally held right before the Thanksgiving break and classroom rehearsals will start immediately following. Then, in January, we begin a busy rehearsal schedule (both in class and after school) to prepare for various workshop clinics/performances and, of course, our zone/district contests in the spring.
This site is specifically designed to offer you information, advice, helpful links, and anything else that might guide you in preparing for and participating in the largest play festival of its kind on the planet. Put this website on your “Favorites” list and keep an eye on this page for updates. Tell your fellow students and friends about us, too. Whether you aspire towards performing or working on a backstage crew or just cheering us on from the audience, we welcome you!
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions that you have at brownru@whitehouseisd.org. Or, come see me in FA14 in the Fine Arts wing. Now, as our good friend William Shakespeare once penned, “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” So, come on, let’s start “playing!”
