SOCIAL STUDIES COMPETITION John Keeling, Room 110, keelingj@whitehouseisd.org From the Coach :: Students and Parents, Welcome to the UIL Social Studies Website. The UIL Social Studies Event was created to test student’s social studies skills. This event was designed especially for students who love their history or geography classes. Students are required to study a given topic by reading primary and secondary source material throughout the year and taking an objective (multiple-choice) and essay exam at UIL competitions. The topic changes each year as do the primary and secondary sources. The Team :: Mr. Keeling is the coach for Social Studies and he is located in Room 110. Mr. Keeling’s Social Studies Team has won the District title for 5 years in a row and team members have made it to the state competition for the last 5 years. In 2009 the WHS Social Studies Team were the State Champions in 4A and Heath Mayo was the Social Studies 4A State Champion! In 2010 Caroline Weathers continued the tradition of excellence by bringing home the bronze medal at state! If you would like to be a part of this winning tradition please stop by Mr. Keeling’s room for more information. Practice schedules will be determined at a later time.
