Kindergarten Homework! Sight words taught so far this year: at, a, can, I, me, mom, dad, see, the, on, like, my Whether your child is already a reader or is becoming a reader, he will benefit from his guided reading homework every night. The homework may be reading his book, or practicing identifying letters and sounds from his ABC chart. Other fun ideas for reinforcing Kindergarten objectives are: - Read to your child.
- Sing silly rhyme songs with them.
- Have them practice writing their first and last name with only one capital letter.
- Practice "Life Skills": tying shoes, phone number, address, birthday.
- Practice counting things at home.
- Practice saying and recognizing the alphabet.
- Let them tell you "stories".
- Practice sight words and color words.
