Rachel's Challenge

Taylor, along with Frisco ISD, will be implementing Rachel's Challenge (RC) this year. Rachel Scott was the first student shot in Columbine. Her father Darrell Scott continues her legacy and goal to touch people's lives. Rachel lived on the values of Kindness & Compassion and that is what this program teaches. There are 5 Challenges in this program that the students will learn about. They are: Influence, Goal Setting, Jornaling, Acceptance, and Kindness.

We want students to feel safe and secure at Taylor.  Rachel's challenge encourages students to recognize their full potential and significance in life along with how to create their legacy or code for living.  The elementary program is designed to address the needs of younger students.  We will focus on how Rachel Scott lived her life and what a difference she made in the lives of others.

Each classroom will start a chain of paper links.  Links are given by students and staff for demonstrating Kindness & Compassion.  At the end of the school year, we will connect our chains to form a school wide chain representing all the kindness and compassion shown throughout the year!

"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go."  Rachel Scott

How Full is Your Bucket?

Students strive to be respectful towards self and others by focusing on being bucket fillers (helpers, giving compliments, manners focused etc.) versus bucket dippers (teasing, name-calling, rude behaviors, etc.)
