Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions

It's my child's birthday, how can I make it special?

You are welcome to bring store-bought cookies, cupcakes, or doughnuts (instead of sheet cakes or cookie cakes which are more time-consuming to distribute) to celebrate your child's birthday.  Items such as candy should not be brought.  These items can be shared after 2:30.

I have concerns about my child, what should I do?

Please feel free to contact us.  This can be done through e-mail, a phone call, or a note.  You are welcome to set up a conference with us during our planning time or after school with prior notice.

I would like to have lunch with my child, how can this be done?

Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child from 1:15-1:45 P.M.  Due to Taylor's new lunch policy, there will be a special "Visitors Table" for you and your child to enjoy lunch together.  Please note: You may only provide lunch for you and your child.

Is my child allowed to bring a snack?

Your child may bring a nutritious snack each day for our morning snack time.  If your child would like to purchase a snack from the cafeteria, it must be purchased prior to 7:40 A.M.  Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle daily to class.

There is a change in how my child gets home, what do I do?

Whether the change is temporary or permanent, it is a good idea to either send a note or e-mail the child's teacher and the office. We really discourage sending a 'last minute' e-mail directly to the teacher since we are instructing students and may not get to check our e-mail.  If a 'last minute' change occurs, then please directly call the office, so we receive your message to inform your child.

Absences?  What do I need to do?

Please call/e-mail Mrs. Smith, our attendance clerk, if your child will not be present during the school day.  It is also a great idea to e-mail your child's homeroom teacher to inform her of an absence.  If your child is going to an appointment, please bring a doctor's/dentist's note back to school to turn in to our attendance clerk.

I would love to volunteer to help, what do I need to do?

We love volunteers and appreciate those of you that are able to donate your time to help us--whether it's with copying papers, cutting papers, attending field trips, etc.  Please make sure to complete our volunteer application that is required by the school district.  To complete it, please go to https://forms.friscoisd.org/backgroundcheck/.
