Characteristics of a well constructed written solution in math are: 1. The solution is complete. All necessary steps are shown. 2. The solution is neat and organized. There is no scratching out, the equal signs are lined up and the solution reads down the page, not across. Using pencil will help with neatness. 3. The solution flows logically from one line to the next. No guesswork is required to determine what you mean. 4. Where needed, the solution is interspersed with narrative to explain and clarify. Introductory sentences, subtitles and conclusions are used. 5. Proper mathematical symbols, form and conventions are used. 6. Proper units are used in final statements only and when appropriate.
