Middle and High School Art
Textbook: There is no textbook for high school or middle school art. A collection of resource materials from various sources is readily available to serve as an aid in the classroom for both students and teachers.
Instructor: Sharon G. Gorman, sgorman@baica.com
Course Content: Middle School and High School students will incorporate the elements and principles of design into their art as they study in various media: drawing (pen and ink, pastels, colored pencils, and oil pastels), painting (tempera, watercolor, and acrylic painting), mixed media (pen and ink, watercolour, colored pencils, pastels, acrylics, oil pastels, etc.), printmaking (linoleum block printing and Styrofoam printing), commercial art (paper and paint or computer graphic design, collage (paper and crafts materials) and three dimensional design (foam board and illustration board) may be used in the above mentioned disciplines.
Grading:The grading policy is very simple, everything counts a hundred. I like to reward my student through extra credit assignment, classroom participation, and exceptional assignments completed on time. Art is a discipline. It requires classroom management skills to insure the safety of the students as well as a proper work environment, care of equipment, and clean -up. To insure that the art classes function properly, all students will be responsible for following art department procedures. Please help me help your child achieve his/her goals by encouraging him/her to stay on task. Conversely, their grade will suffer if any of the above criteria are not met. If you have any questions, you may respond to me through the BAICA webpage.
