Bailey Avenue Elementary School

It is the goal of our elementary music program to contribute to the musical growth of children by providing a variety of musical experiences, nurturing musical interests and abilities, and enriching their knowledge of music. There is much to be accomplished and I truly appreciated any support or reinforcement that you give to your child concerning his or her music instruction.  Goals for the Music Curriculum for grades K-2 will include the following:

            -Work to develop a singing voice

            -Work to keep a steady beat and/or rhythm

            -Work to develop grade appropriate rhythmic reading skills

            -Work to learn names, sounds and correct ways to play the classroom instruments

            -Respond to music through movement

            -Create music using familiar patterns and intervals

            -Work to learn orchestral instruments and their sounds

            -Work to learn music terminology such as loud, soft, dynamics, refrain, verse, etc.
