Sunshine State Reading Program
|
|
Our Sunshine State Young Readers program is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 3 - 5. The purpose of the program is to encourage students to read independently for personal enjoyment. Each year, fifteen titles are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, and curriculum connections. Students are encouraged to read all 15 titles. Last year we had our largest number ever accomplish this goal! All of the books are AR books and they are part of the genre book clubs we are doing this year. They are all available at the public library if you don't want to wait on any of them to be returned to our library. The program will run from now until April. Students will vote on their favorite book, come to the Sundae party if they read the required number of books (see below), and join in the Name That Book contest in January on the morning show. Lots of fun stuff and great books to read - what could be better than that? To come to the party in April, 3rd graders need to read 3 books, 4th graders need 5 books, and 5th graders need 7 books. The list of Sunshine State titles with their AR levels is listed below - just click on the link at the bottom of this page. Happy Reading:)
