Media Classes Welcome to media storytime classes!

If you have children in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd Grade, they will come to the media center each week for storytime and book checkout. In these classes, children will be introduced to a variety of picture book authors. Genres such as poetry, fairy/folktales and non-fiction information books will also be part of our curriculum. We always have a great time enjoying these stories together! I hope they enjoy them as much as I do.

In addition to enjoying storytime together, students are taught media skills such as caring for books, how to find a book in the media center, and the parts of the book.

Kindergarten Classes:

For our Kindergartens, storytime classes will begin the first day of school. Book checkout will not begin until the beginning of October after a series of lessons to prepare them for the responsibilty of checking out, caring for, and returning the books to the media center. Kindergartners are allowed one picture book each week. Students must return their library book before checking out another one. Parents are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged books.

First Grade Classes:

These classes will begin the first day of school but book checkout will not begin until the second week of school after the students have an orientation class in caring for the books they take from the library. Students will be allowed to check out one picture book and must return their books each week to checkout another one. Parents are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged books.

Second Grade Classes:

2nd graders are allowed to check out two picture books beginning the second week of school. Later in the fall, they will be allowed to checkout from other sections of the library, such as chapter books and non-fiction information books, after a series of lessons introducing them to these new sections. Students must return their books each week to checkout another one. Parents are responsible for paying for any lost or damaged books.
