Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to my Communication Applications class at Whitehouse High School. Communication Applications is a required course for high school students in Texas. It was requested by business leaders in Texas who felt that employees coming out of high school were not equipped with the communication skills they needed in the workplace. Thus the goal of this course is very pragmatic and aims to cover all of the basic areas of communication toward improving and enhancing a student's ability to communicate on all levels. Areas that will be covered include: intrapersonal communication, interpersonal communication, small group communication, public speaking, job interviews, the mass media, and more.
Because communication is such a central and critical component of human interaction, I believe that each student who enters my classroom is capable of achieving success. As a result, my expectations are high for each of my students. As a teacher, I work hard to do my part to in ensuring that each student is given the resources to succeed, and I will go the extra mile to help those who may need more assistance than others.
This website is a tool to aid in your learning. I have posted a variety of material including lecture notes, handouts, and assignments to make it easy for students to keep up with the class if they are absent or need to review material they found unclear.
