Art! Mission Statement

Teaching Philosophy

My goal as an art instructor is to develop a positive attitude within the hearts and minds of my students by utilizing art as a foundation for their success. I utilize my talent and educational experience to help create an environment conducive to successful learning. As each student evolves and becomes more aware of their own potential, the reward of accomplishment will motivate them to continue learning and striving to succeed in their area of interest. In order to ever recognize their own abilities, the students must be made aware of their abilities.

As a teacher, I must enter our classroom every morning and remember just how powerful my words can be to the ears, and minds, of a young child in need of guidance. As an educator, I also recognize myself as an active learner. I am responsible for creating a safe learning environment where my students will not only welcome my knowledge, but also embrace it.

In creating a learning community, I promote learning how to learn from ourselves, one another, as well as the knowledge that I bring to our classroom. Above all, as an educator I must realize that I play guide to my students as we explore the joys, and rewards, of learning. In essence, we are learning together, from one another. “Qui Docet Discit.” Simply, it means, he who teaches, learns.
