Its going to be a great year at St. Anselm's Catholic School!
Mrs. Hermann will take care of morning homeroom and then teach religion for both 5th and 6th graders. She will continue helping at school with tutoring and student council. Mrs. Jorgensen will teach science during the last 4 periods of the day, assist the kids before and after lunch, and wrap up the day with afternoon homeroom time supervising as the class writes in their planners and pack their bags. She will also organize the You Be The Chemist club.
Religion 5/6 - In addition to working in our books "Blest Are We" we will incorporate a good number of projects and hands on activities to bring our Catholic education to life. Pope Francis said "Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!" We will work on growing in God and His teachings, finding our talents and sharing them!
Science 5/6/7/8 - Each science class starts the year learning and reviewing basic science skills - using metric, making graphs, using the scientific method, writing a hypothesis, and much more. The science curriculum at St. Anselm is based on the Next Generation Science Standards that were updated by the AOD http://www.nextgenscience.org/
Science weights (50% tests, 30% classwork, 20% homework)
Science 5 studies an integrated science curriculum working in earth, life, and physical science.
Science 6 curriculum is a thorough study of earth and space science. The 6th graders also have their much anticipated Science Camp in the spring!
Science 7 will find their study of life science this year very engaging and exciting!
Science 8 will study physical science including chemistry and physics.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from our school parents.
