Susan M. Dallam Español 3-4 (II), 5-6 (III) Class expectations 2009-2010 Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year. My goal is to develop in my student the ability to use the Spanish language on a daily basis in the classroom and beyond. The following information is necessary for us to achieve that goal. Arrive on time with necessary materials. Every day students must bring paper, a writing utensil and the Spanish textbook (En Español Dos, En Español Tres.) Three unexcused tardies per semester will result in lunch detention. A student is considered tardy if he or she is not in the classroom when the bell rings. Subsequent tardies will result in detention as well. In the case of an excused tardy, passes should be placed on my desk. Unexcused absences will be handled according to school policy as stated in the student handbook or planner. Assignments pertaining to the day’s objective will be on the overhead or whiteboard daily. Begin the assignment as soon as class starts. Homework will be assigned as necessary. Late work of any nature will not be accepted except in the case of an excused absence. Classroom disruptions such as excessive talking, use of electronics or sleeping will result in consequences including, but not limited to, a phone call home, confiscation of electrical devices or standing for the remainder of class. Confiscated items may be retrieved by a parent or guardian from the front office. Rewards for appropriate participation include an enriching, lifetime learning experience, cultural celebrations, cultural treats and occasionally, extra credit. I use a traditional grading system: 90%-100%=A, 80%-89%=B, 70%-79%=C, 60%-69%=D, 59% or below = F. Grades fall into the following categories: participation (daily assignments) tests, quizzes, projects, homework, notebooks. Up to date grades will be posted on Zangle. I will be happy to discuss any matter concerning class progress and can be reached at 328-3723 or dallasm@d11.org.
