About the Teacher About the Teacher

My name is Susan Beil and I am the 6th grade Learning Support Teacher at Slatington Elementary.  This is my third year at Slatington. Previously, I taught at Peters Elementary for 15 years. Prior to that I worked for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit.  Over the years, I've held several positions including 4th-6th Emotional Support Teacher, Instructional Support/Kindergarten Teacher, and Kdg-2nd Learning Support Teacher.  I am looking forward to the 2011-12 school year.
I received dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from Kutztown University.  I pursued my Masters in Special Education with a concentration in Behavior Disorders at Lehigh University.  I view myself as a lifelong learner.  I have a special interest in Autism/Asperger's Disorder.  I've also studied American Sign Language (ASL) and Korean.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband Alan is a teacher at Salisbury Middle School.  We have two children, both adopted from Korea.  Kailyn is 16 and a gymnast at Lehigh Valley Sports Academy.  Carson is 13 and is in 7th grade.  He plays soccer and plays the bass clarinet in the school band.
Some of my hobbies including drawing, jewelry making, reading, and surfing the internet.  I'm a big fan of Disney World, Piglet, and anything chocolate!
