Welcome to Literature Class! Where books fall open, and you fall in...
"Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own." ~William Hazlitt
"It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it." ~Oscar Wilde
"Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled "This could change your life." ~Helen Exley
Miss Beale has prepared this site to help parents and students navigate the waters of Literature class and the many oceans we travel while we are reading.
How to Navigate the Site:
-All Classroom News is on the left hand side and there is a section for each grade level. This is also where news about extracurricular activities can be found.
-There is a Homework tab for current assignments, but you can also find due dates on the Calendar. Please refer to the Calendar for test and quiz dates.
-The My Resources tab also has a section for each grade level. Within each class you can find assignment directions, class guidelines, and important handouts.
-The Calendar will show not only homework assignments, but upcoming events, activities, help sessions, etc.
-The My Links tab will display website links that will be important either to writing or to units we are completing in class.
-The Booklist will show all recommended books for 6-8th grade students. I encourage students to choose books to read from this list often, but also to make suggestions for books that I have overlooked. These are not mandatory reading, but merely a listing of excellent young adult literature and classical texts.
