Classroom News Important Reminders
This is still important information you should read.

Dear Students and Parents,

In Math we are practicing our multiplication and division skills while learning to solve multiple step Algebra problems.  At home students should be practicing the new skills and reviewing the old skills; such as Fractions, as often as they can.    In English and Language Arts, we are still writing Expository Essays where your children are explaining and supporting their explanations with details as they answer why...  In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about our country's history.  We are reading about the Industrial Revolution and the Westward Expansion.  In Science we are starting to read about Ecosystems.

Please remember that organization, responsibility and proper behavior are key to your child's success in school.  We have been practicing and reviewing these; as well as, test taking and study skills all throughout this year.  Your children have been practicing making the most of their learning time; therefore, I need them to continue to come prepared to class, work diligently, responsibly and with enthusiasm.

In an effort to "Go Green," and to practice accountability, and get ready for 5th grade, we are going back to basics.  All students are writing the homework in their agenda.  Students will continue to keep their classwork throughout the week and use it to review or to discuss with their parents, what they've learned each day.  Students who do not finish their classwork, will write themselves reminders in their agendas.  This is all in effort to instill responsibility and promote initiative and accountability.

The checklist we used, was a tool that I came up with to help students keep track of their responsibilities and class work assignments.  As I explain and model how to understand the curriculum and meet or exceed the standards that we are expected to know by the end of 4th grade, I expect my students' undivided attention and respect.

We parents, tutors and teachers; model, provide tools, explanations, extra practice opportunities and reminders. We ultimately want our children to take ownership for their learning; therefore, we parents and teachers will continue to expect our children to work diligently toward daily goals at home and at school.  We will also continue to encourage students to approach challenges with enthusiasm and confidence, so that they see how successful they can be.

I appreciate my students' efforts, my parents' time and all they do to reinforce and support all I teach.  I wish you all many blessings always.

Thank you,

Mrs. Hart
