Dear Students and Parents,
!
HOMEWORK:
On Mondays, students use their agenda to write the homework for the week as well as upcoming test dates and due dates for projects. Students know what is for homework daily, because I also have them take it out to review it, and I remind them to pack it. I encourage them to staple all the pages together and to keep them in their green folder. Each afternoon, when students get home from school, they should be able to tell their parents what we did in class and what is for homework. All homework is due on Fridays.
I have this website for you and your parents to use as an extra resource. I ask that you continue to use your agenda because you can quickly refer to it and you can check off the assignments daily as you complete them. 5th grade teachers at Abbotts also use the agenda. I want you to be prepared for 5th, so we will continue to practice responsibility by keeping track of our work and completing our assignments by the due dates.
CLASS WORK:
Each day students come in and follow a morning routine. They unpack and get ready to start the day by sharpening pencils, having paper available and most importanty, reading the board. I write a daily schedule on the White Board's margin, informing students of the day's activities. The assignments are always due that same day unless I see that students need more time. Students are to keep their assignments in a safe folder. Many like to keep all their work on one side of their green folder so that they can review at home or show their parents. Others have a separate folder. In an effort to better prepare for 5th grade, I am telling students to place their work in their binders after each lesson.
Obviously, everyone works at a different pace, but I know how each student is doing. I provide extra practice time and small group instruction as needed. We are half-way through the year and students know our class routine by now. Nevertheless, I am here to help anyone that wants or needs extra help, so please do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hart
