About Palmer's Program:
Thank you for showing an interest in one of the most successful athletic programs at Palmer High School. Over the past nine years, our boy’s team has been one of the strongest programs in the region, consistently placing in the top 10 at the 5A Colorado State Championships. Over the same period, the girl’s teams have qualified for nine consecutive 5A State Championships, placing in the top five, four of the past five years, along with two Regional Championships. The coaching staff is very proud of the fact that from 2008-2010, both the boys and girls cross country teams placed in the top 10 at the 5A state championships. This is one of the strongest combined programs in the state of Colorado. Additonally, our team has continues to grow in numbers. Over the last 5 years we have fielded close to 90 runners. We work hard, set both team and individual goals, and have fun training and competing for Palmer. We encourage you to try high school cross country for a truly rewarding experience.
In order to prepare for a successful cross country season, the coaching staff at Palmer High School encourages running during the summer Developing base mileage during over these months greatly decreases a runner's chance of injury, resulting in a more enjoyable cross country season. It is said that state championships are won over the summer.
