For your information I am presently attending school again at Dominican University in order to earn my California teacher credential as required by charter schools. This is in addition to my Waldorf teacher credential which I earned many years ago. This is supposed to be the last semester for me, but it is also the one with the most work. If I do not respond right away, or seem to be juggling things this is the reason. When this is over just teaching a Waldorf 7th grade may seem like a breeze.

Related to my message above, although we are holding steady with the 7th grade burrito fund raising effort there may be a potential for earning more money. If anyone has the time or interest to explore increasing our revenue, let me know.

On Tuesday January 26th we will begin a new block in which we learn about health and nutrition. The students will also learn more about the digestive, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems.

On Monday or Tuesday I will pass out new readers to the class. In order to help some students organize their reading schedule I will ask that the students turn in a one page summary every 30 pages or so.

Also the week of January 25th I will begin with weekly vocabulary/spelling assignments. The students will receive a hard copy of the words and what to do for the week. It may be good to check on your child's homework binder to make sure that they have a system in place to keep track of homework. I will try to post the assignment and list, but the main source is the hard copy I give the students.

I also intend to send the California Standards practice book for language arts home with short assignments every Monday and Wednesday. This book is written to help in practicing for the Star tests. It could be an opportunity for you to help your child with some tutoring if they need it.
