Here's a list of the 110 words that all 3rd graders should be able to spell by the end of third grade in June.

  • September: again, because, could, favorite, have, into, off, people, said, they, until, very, want, who 

  • October: city, community, countries, exciting, getting, laughed, schools, to, two, too, pretty, prettier, prettiest, was 

  • November: beautiful, before, discover, enough, first, hopeless, journal, let's, recycle, their, there, they're, went, when 

  • December: anyone, are, can't, don't, everybody, everything, hidden, our, right, terrible, trouble, won't, wouldn't, write 

  • January: about, especially, except, friendly, knew, new, know, no, myself, really, probably, then, usually, what 

  • February: by, buy, didn't, doesn't, general, governor, something, sometimes, one, unhappiness, winner, won, your, you're 

  • March: another, confusion, I'm, its, it's, question, that's, threw, through, vacation, we're, wear, where, with 

  • April: almost, also, always, impossible, independent, lovable, thought, were, weather, whether, whole, hole (for a total of 110 words!!)

    Our friends, the Grammar Gorillas, need help identifying parts of speech. If you click on the right word in the sentence, our friends get a banana. And you know, a gorilla with a banana is a gorilla with appeal.
    Stay Afloat
    Don't get soaked by the wrong word.
    Word Turtle
    This is a custom seek and find word search game. You give FunBrain a list of words which it then hides in the puzzle. Select a level and whether you want to play against FunBrain or if you want the puzzle to be printed out on paper so you can play it away from the computer.
    Spellaroo
    Spellaroo can hop better than he can spell. Click on the word that is spelled wrong. If you get twenty right, you will go to the "Land of Joeys". To start, click on a level.
    Spell Check
    The computer will give twenty sets of four words. Place a check next to the word which is spelled wrong. Spell the word you checked correctly in the box. If you get all twenty problems correct, you can put your name on our leader board.
    Mad Libs
    Write your own crazy story.
    Sign the Alphabet
    FUNBRAIN will show you a sign. For each screen, identify the correct meaning. Check the correct box or type in the letter or number.
    What's the Word
    FUNBRAIN will show you a picture. Click on the word that best describes the picture. To start, click on a topic below.
    Translator Alligator
    FunBrain.com will show a word. For each screen, identify the correct word in the foreign language. Click on the correct word, or type in the name (spelling counts). If you select levels 3 or 4, you will be given a foreign language word and have to answer with the correct English word.
