February 6- 10th, 2012 We are learning everyday at TEAM New Berlin where Together Everyone Achieves More! Please check back here for updated information and homework weekly! 2nd Grade News * Valentine’s day is coming up. We will have a “celebration of friendship” in our classes next Tuesday. If you would like to send in friendship cards, please send in enough for ALL the students in the class. Look for more info as well as a class roster to go home later this week. * The K-2 Sweet Tart dance is THIS Thursday…all students attending the dance MUST have a permission slip and $5.00. * If you have not done so already, please sign and return your child’s report card. *Assessments this week: Basic Facts Drill, Spelling Test, Reading Comprehension test, Skills Quiz Every week we will discuss what is being covered in each subject: Reading: Features of Non-Fiction, context clues, and benchmark testing Math: Subtracting with regrouping Writing: Report of a classmate Skills: Suffixes "ed & ing" Spelling: Pattern "au/aw" Science: Matter- Solids Health: Charity Social Studies: Black History The second grade reading book goal is 90 books per quarter which equates to 360 books per year. The books students read at school AND at home will count toward the reading goal for our end of the year Reading Celebration. Students school book logs will be counted as part of their reading grade each nine weeks. Please remember that homework has been uploaded onto our site, however students should not work ahead. All homework is due the day after it is assigned. Each week students will take a Spelling Test and a Basic Fact Math Drill. Students are responsible for studying their spelling words and basic Math Facts at home. If you notice a word is spelled incorrectly in your student’s agenda PLEASE do not let them study the incorrect spelling. We do check the agendas, but sometime an error will pass us by.
