Q: What about agendas and homework folders? A: Students are responsible for carrying their agenda and homework folder to and from school EVERY DAY! Parents are responsible for checking the agenda for notes from his/her teacher, and behavior grades. Agendas need to be signed by a parent or guardian EVERYDAY. Homework is assigned Monday thru Thursday, with additional Reading EXPECTED over the weekend. Your student is responsible for keeping up with his/her homework and turning it in the following day. If your child has particular trouble completing an assignment, please jot us a note so we can follow up with him or her in class.
Q: What Spelling Words should my child study? A: Numbers 1-10 in their agenda
Q: Where are the Word Wall Words located? A: On the bottom of the weekly homework sheet...they will also be listed weekly on the homework tab. AND numbers 16-20 in their agenda. Number 15 will either be blank or it will have WWW printed so students know that the following 5 words (16-20) are their word wall words.
Q: What is the reading goal for second grade? A: Second graders are expected to read (and LOG) 90 books PER QUARTER. Students will log books that they read at school in their school book log, but must also read at home and log those books in their "at home book log" in order to meet this goal. This is part of their reading grade on their report card.
Q: What types of assessments can I anticipate? A: We wil have spelling tests and math fact drills every week. Most weeks students will also take a skills quiz and a Reading Comprehension test. The homework sheets will notify you of any other assessments which may occur during that particular week.
Q: How should I log a chapter book for my child? A: Once your child is FINISHED with a chapter book, put a check mark in the "chapter" column of the book log. Please do NOT write down anything on the booklog until your child has FINISHED the book. For instance if John reads pages 1-25 of his chapter book on Monday, the next 25 pages on Tuesday and so on and so on...do not log those nightly readings. Only when John finishes the book do you write it in the booklog with a check mark in the "chapter" column. **See the reading goal letter we have uploaded under the Letters, Forms page**

Email her (often times this will be the quickest form of communication) 2. Write a note in your student's agenda 3. Call and leave a message on her voice mail (904-714-4601) Please do not hesitate to contact us with ANY questions, concerns, praises or requests. :)
