My Homework
My Homework

The following are recommended books to practice reading with your child in order to build vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.

It is recommended that you read to your child first, then have your child read it to you in order to gain fluency. During reading, it is recommended that you ask your child to explain or point to pictures that describes words from the story in order to build vocabulary. After reading, it is recommended that your child tells you what happened at the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story in order to build comprehension.

The books are listed in order below from Easy Reading to Challenging. These books can be found at any bookstore or library.

In addition, it is recommended that your child practices phonic strategies and reading High Frequency Words to enhance fluency skills. If you would like to have more information, please e-mail me and I will send home the information with your child.
