Math Help
I offer tutoring in my classroom for any student having difficulties or needing a quiet place to finish homework before going home. Select a topic from the menu at the left for a quick tutorial lesson to refresh your memory or augment your understanding.
Problem solving Strategies - Guess & check.
- Look for a pattern.
- Make a diagram, model, a list, or a table of information.
- Work backwards from the answer.
- Simplify the problem, eliminate possibilities.
- Get advise or do research.
- Relax or take a short break before returning to try again.
When you find the answer...- Does the answer make sense? Why do you think that?
- How did you get the answer? Is it correct?
- Does it answer the question being asked?
- Can you convinced (or show) me that your solution is correct?
When you finish your homework, check...- Is your assignment on a clean piece of paper? Is it neat? Is it complete? Is it in pencil?
- Did you write your name, date, period, and title on the assignment?
- Did you show your work? Circle (or box) your answers?
- If you got stuck on a problem, did you at least start it and list that problem on your assignment sheet?

Still A bit Mystified? Try the links to the left (under Math Tutorials) for additional help, reminders, and short tutorials about various math topics. You might also try one of these math books, they're available at most bookstores or the library.
