Welcome to Mrs. Martin's First Grade Class!  I am extremely excited to begin my third year at Deer Creek Elementary.  I have a passion and love for children and could not be happier to be a part of each of your children's lives.

I was raised in Edmond and received my degree from the University of Oklahoma.  I look forward to building my teaching career in the fantastic Deer Creek District.  I feel incredibly blessed to work in such a wonderful district filled with the best and brightest students, staff and parents.  I adore children and believe in the necessity for children to learn in an open and honest environment filled with love and learning.  Creating a classroom community where children feel safe and loved helps them feel encouraged and gives them a sense of belonging where they can take risks and aim high!  I am especially interested in the growth of their reading skills and becoming a lifelong learner as these skills will continue with them long after school is over.  It never hurts to work on handwriting also!

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Adam, for just over two years.  I have one step-daughter, Allison, who is five and keeps me on my feet and prepared for my first graders!  Our first child, Bennett, is expected to arrive in October 2011.  We also have two adorable dogs, Tally and Snickers.  The kids at school love to hear about the dogs!  They all LOVE animals!

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's learning experience.  I make it my goal to encourage them in their journey and instill a zeal for learning in each of them!
