Updated February 7, 2012

Bravo to everyone for fabulous winter concerts at both Woodlin and Oakland Terrace Elementary Schools!

New Woodlin Schedules are out and on this website in the menu to the left under Daily Class Schedules.

Oakland Terrace schedules will be out this week.

Budget cut information:  Last spring, the Board of Education restored 2 full time positions to the proposed 4.2 positions cut.  While this is good news, it is not enough.  We have been in need of additional staffing for the last 5 years, and now we are down 2.2 positions.  This will mean larger instrumental music classes this year, and limited instrumentation.  For your information I'll leave the letter that circulated last spring here explaining exactly what these cuts mean.

You can find practice advice for all instruments hereBeginning flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone can find links to You-tube videos inside those documents on instrument assembly and getting a sound.

How can music help my child?

"There is ample evidence that the arts help students develop the attitudes, characteristics, and intellectual skills required to participate effectively in today's society and economy. The arts teach self-discipline, reinforce self-esteem, and foster the thinking skills and creativity so valued in the workplace. They teach the importance of teamwork and cooperation. They demonstrate the direct connection between study, hard work, and high levels of achievement."
