Sing and Tell
|
|
Sing and Tell takes place during the months of October, January, February, April and June in grades 1 through 5. One full class period is devoted to students sharing music presentations and rehearsed performances. Students have the option to actively participate or remain in the class audience. Some sharing examples are: singing a song for the class, playing an instrument for the class, bringing in a recorded piece of music for the class to listen to, performing a dance, demonstrating an instrument or sharing a musical experience such as attending a concert, etc. Many students choose to perform songs learned in music classes. Student performances may be solos, small or large ensembles or complete class participation experiences. Appropriate audience behavior is discussed and graded during this time and vocabulary words such as solo, quintet, ensemble, a cappella and accompaniment are used and reinforced. This learning format has proven to be a valuable part of each student's musical education at Captain Isaac Paine School! I look forward to hearing and seeing what the classes come up with each time and watching student confidence and poise grow through the experience. The next Sing and Tell sessions will take place during regularly scheduled music classes during the week of February 13th.
