Dear Families:
Living faith demonstrates to those we know personally or even only encounter that God’s gift of Himself to us changes us. We are inclined to see the joy in every moment, to give thanks for the very breath we breathe. We appreciate the gift of our loved ones, especially our children. We see in their eyes a glimpse of endless possibility and a view of the world that reflects hope for the future in a peaceful world. “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me…”, the beautiful finale number at our spring concert. How moving to see all the children singing those words in unison!
Living faith inspired our National Junior Honor Society members to visit Clairvaux Farm, an Earleville residence for homeless families, one night last week. Clairvaux Farms is named it after St. Bernard of Clairvaux, a 12th-century monk who inspired St. Francis of Assisi . Mrs. Keen and Mrs. Januzska reported that our students felt very comfortable with the residents. They played games, talked, watched TV and all around entertained the children for the evening. They shared the joy of their faith with others.
Living faith led Joe Kosman to the diaconate. His personal surrender to God’s will, his absolute Amen to the Lord’s, “Come follow me” mapped out a life that included marriage, family, career, and service to the Church. Joe shared his talents with students at Washington College, with RCIA candidates, with newly initiated babies, with engaged couples. His smile was genuine and heartfelt. He accepted the gift of God in his life. In the twilight of his life, Joe commented that his only regret was having so little time to serve the Church. Joe took his gift and multiplied it one hundred fold as he interacted humbly and joyfully with others.
Living faith takes our knowledge of God, pairs it with our desire to serve and places us in situations where we, too, have the opportunity to say, “Amen” to His plan for us.
MAY HE REST IN PEACE
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church to celebrate the life of Deacon Joe Kosman. Please keep his family in prayer.
AFTERCARE REGISTRATION 2012-13
The registration fee of $15 per child entitles you to a lower hourly fee should you ever need to use this service. Next year, the program will begin on the second day of school, rather than the second week of school. We know that this will make life easier for our families when the new academic year begins and will alleviate the parking lot bottleneck the first week of school. As always, the program is first come, first served so please return your forms to the office ASAP. The first day for Aftercare will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN
· At Chick-Fil-A for the Race For Education Limo Ride and Lunch on Monday. The children were well behaved and hungry so we mark this event a success. We even met the Chick-Fil-A cow!
· At the Spring Concert with grades K-5 on Wednesday evening. Thank you Ms. Tullai and your performers for a truly entertaining evening.
RUSH UNIFORM
On Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. Rush Uniform will be at ICS to measure for new uniforms. Please be advised that children outgrow uniforms, perhaps all too quickly, and colors do fade. All students are expected to return to ICS in August in a clean, bright, appropriately sized uniform. You may also visit the store in New Castle , but this opportunity to order makes sense if you want to save time and gas!
WE WILL CELBRATE…
The unofficial beginning of summer next weekend with no school on Friday and Monday. I know students are very disappointed about the time off.
SNEAKERS
…are a must for dress down days.
