Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Marisha Castillo and I have been teaching for 7 years. I was born and raised in Needles, California. I graduated high school in 1998 and went to college at Northern Arizona University. After going to school for a year I decided to move to Edmond, Oklahoma to be closer to my sister and her family. I took a year off of school to get married and have a baby before returning to school in 2000. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2003 from the University of Central Oklahoma. I immediately went back to school to work on my Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading. After graduating with my Master's degree in 2004, I went to work in a private preschool for 2 years before getting my first public school job teaching Kindergarten. I was so excited because becoming a teacher was a life long dream! When my husband finished his schooling, we decided to move back to Needles. I taught 4th & 5th grade in Needles for 3 years before getting lucky enough to get hired here at Topock! I have been teaching 2nd grade for the last 2 years at this amazing school!
I am married and have four children. Three of my children are attending school at Topock! I have a daughter in 6th grade, a daughter in 1st grade and a daughter and son in our wonderful Pre-School! I enjoy being involved in all my daughter's extra curricular activities and I serve on the soccer and softball board for my community. I come from a VERY large extended family and I spend most of my free time with them. When I am not with my family, I am either scrapbooking or reading. I am so excited to be here and to be working with your children!
