Business Law Course Description:

 

Business and Personal law is a business course that provides the basic foundation of the legal system. This course is designed to introduce topics such as ethics, criminal law, contracts, court systems, employment, and personal business transactions in business and personal law. The material in this course provides students with practical guidelines for becoming well-informed contributing citizens and consumers. This course also develops fundamental understandings of how the law governs business and its operations.

 

Course Requirements:

 

For all class meetings you will need a pencil and/or pen and 2 pocket folder.

 

Grading Policy:

 

Chapter Tests               40%    

Class work                   50%

Class Participation        10%

 

Tests: Consist of Chapter Tests.

Class work: Will consist of notes, projects, homework and case studies.  Different point values will be assigned to each assignment based on the size and complexity of the assignment.  Partial credit will be given for late assignments, when not excused!  The class work grade will be work 50% of your total grade.

Class Participation: Class participation can be earned every class.  A student can earn up to 3 points per day based on classroom behavior.

3 = Prepared for class, actively participates in completing notes and/or assignments, follows All classroom rules.

2 = Not completely prepared for class, does not complete notes and/or assignments, follows some classroom rules.

1 = Not prepared for class, does not participate in notes and/or assignments, does not follow classroom rules.

            0 = Not prepared for class, disruptive and does not follow classroom rules.

 

Being tardy for class will result in the loss of class participation points.  An unexcused tardy will automatically educe the number of points that can be earned for the class to 2.

 

 

 

 

Expectations and Classroom Rules:

 

Expectations: Students are expected to arrive at class on time and prepared.  Students are expected to use professional language at all times and to treat other students respectfully. Students are expected to actively listen while the teacher is talking.  Students are expected to behave in a responsible manner and be accountable for their work and their behavior.  If the student missed class the student is responsible for meeting with the teacher to set up a time to make up any missed work.

 

Classroom Rules:

            NO – Cursing, Food, Beverages, Ipods etc, Earphones, Cell Phones, Hats, Hoods and Unauthorized Computer Usage.
