Parent Helpers
We are always excited for help in the classroom. Sometimes we need work to be done at home and sometimes we need help in the classroom. Your child's teacher will send you a schedule if you have volunteered to help in the classroom.
Red Alert Folders
Your child has a folder that comes home with them every day. These folders contain classroom work and letters from school. Please check these folders daily and include any notes or communication from home as well. It's your child's responsibility to empty this folder each morning as they come into the classroom.
Homework Notebooks
2nd grade Homework
This year in 2nd grade, homework will consist of two components. The first part will be Reading Minutes. Your child will be required to read for at least fifteen minutes each evening. This can be reading with you, listening to a story or silent reading. The second component of homework will be the homework notebook combined with a technology component. Website information for the technology component will be available on the 2nd grade website and/or the Breton Media Center page.
Each week they will receive a sheet that will be kept in their homework book.
Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays at school. On your child’s birthday if you would like, you may send a party favor for the students in the class.We are requesting that you send a favor rather than food because many times there will be students in class who have dietary restrictions.By celebrating with favors rather than food, no child will be left out of the celebration.(Party favors may include items such as balloons, pencils, post-it notes, etc.)They can be found at discount stores, Target, etc.Summer birthdays will be celebrated on your child’s half birthday.We will always send a note as well as a birthday poster to complete beforehand to let you know the week we’ll be featuring your child for their birthday.
