Why Study an Author?
Reading, writing, and talking about authors helps generate interest in books written by those authors. Studying authors also helps students understand where writers get ideas for their books and strengthens connections between reading and writing. Exploring author web sites is also one of my favorite pastimes! I have put together a list of author web sites that are definitely worth taking a look at. Many of these sites tell where authors get their writing ideas or other information about the writing process.Try creating author profiles that tell what you learned about these writers. Sometimes just hearing about other authors ideas can spark a new idea for your own writing. Have fun!
