Tests: This week we will have two tests. The first test will cover all of the new word study skills, vocabulary words, and reading strategies we have focused on this month. Please view the Literacy Theme 7 slideshow for review tonight. On Wednesday, we will take our Unit 6 math test which will cover 3D shapes, lines, rays, line segments, parallel and intersecting lines, decimals, and multiplication.
Updates: I am continuing to update our homework blog on a weekly basis so please be sure to check it. I have also written a new classroom blog for students to check out this month. Students, please take a moment to vote in our classroom poll for this month. Finally, to learn more about Janet Stevens, the amazing author and illustrator who is visiting our school on Jan. 22nd, visit the Study an Author page here. Thanks:)
Back to School: School resumes Tuesday, January 5th. We will be finishing some last minute things up with our immigration study and moving on to study the regions of the U.S.A. We will also begin researching states and creating power points to display what we have learned. We will begin reading book clubs in lieu of actual reading groups led by Mrs. Randall, and continue our work incorporating the 6 traits of writing into some more published pieces.
Polar Express Party: Please join us this Friday, Dec. 18th for a morning filled with pajamas, train rides, a healthy breakfast, art work, and a book exchange. Parents are welcome to join us whenever it is convenient for you! This is the schedule for our party:

Family Heritage Projects: All students need to bring in their Heritage House and Interview on Dec. 8th. After I mark who has completed the project, students may take their items home to prepare for their presentation. Family tree posters and artifacts do not need to come to school on Dec.8th unless you are presenting. Students may save those items for their actual presentation date so they do not need to tote them to school twice.
Website Updates 11/19): Please visit our updated Team Randall Tribune for current information about our curriculum and classroom events. I encourage you to listen to our student podcasts about the human body by visiting our podcast page. Also, the Essential Learnings for November have been updated. Finally, check out the new slide show I added to the homework page for kids to practice their multiplication fact power!
Updates to website (11/9): Please check out our classroom blog and homework blog for updates. Have you been checking the homework blog weekly? I make updates every week so you know exactly what the homework will be. I have also uploaded the Review Slideshow for Literacy Theme 4. Also, I have added a new classroom poll so please cast your vote.
Mystery Book Report and Presentation Project: The book reports are coming along and they are amazing! I will be sending home the rubric which I used to grade the reports after everyone has presented. You can also check out our amazing display of mysteries next to our classroom door.
Book Fair and Classroom Donations: I can't thank you all enough for the generous donations of books from the book fair and items from my classroom wish list that I have recieved this month. Our class is so lucky to have this level of support. Thank you so very much!
