How Can I Help At Home?

www.superteacherworksheets.com  This site has several practice activities in all subject areas.

At home math practice (optional):

Practice addition flash cards.

Grab 5-7 coins out of a bag.  Count the change.

Tell time on an analog clock (a clock with hands)?  Tricky skill because it is easy to mistake 9:45 for 10:45.

Reading:  Read with your child at home.  Encourage them to read with fluency and expression and ask questions about the book's content.

Ideas for helping your child at home . . .

Reader's response questions:

Pick one of the below questions and ask your child to write or tell you about the book they are reading.
1)  How are you like one of the characters in the book?  Can you tell about something similar that happened to you?
2) Retell what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.
3) Make a list of great adjectives and verbs you have found in the book.
4) Compare and contrast the main character in the book to yourself.
5) Use sticky notes to write confusing words in the book.  Can you figure out their meaning by reading the words in context?
